Death Certificates

Before the business and legal issues of the estate can be pursued, it will be necessary to obtain certified copies of the death certificate. A certified copy will have a raised seal showing its authenticity. You can order them from Vincent Funeral Home for up to 60 days after the date of death or directly from the Registrar of Vital Statistics/Town Clerk in the town that the death occured or town of residence at time of death (Death Certificates are not immediately available in the town of residence after death. It may take up to 3-6 months before the town of death files them with the town of residence. We suggest calling to verify their receipt of the death certificate). It is always better to order a few more than what you think you will need. Most agencies will only accept certified death certificates and not photocopies.

As of October 1, 2009, Certified copies of death certificates are $20.00 each in the State of Connecticut.
