Obituary for Vincent A. "Vinnie" Spescia

Vincent A. “Vinnie” Spescia, 78, of Canton, husband of Donna (Lozier) Spescia, died Thursday, January 31, 2013. Vinnie was born in New Britain, October 7, 1934, to the late Steven and Stella Spescia. He resided in Canton his entire life, where he also owned and operated the Ralph Dowd Insurance Agency until his retirement in 1992. He was a graduate of Avon Old Farms and Babson College. Vinnie served in the U.S. Army and was proud to have been in the Explosives Ordinance Division. He was a member of the Officer’s Club in Hartford; former member of the Burlington Men’s Club; and served on the Collinsville Voluntary Ambulance in its early years. Vinnie loved race cars, motorcycles, boats and waterskiing and was one of the original founders of the Farmington River Water-ski Club. Those who knew Vinnie most also knew his love of fireworks and his favorite holiday - the fourth of July! Known to his many friends as the Colonel or Ace, he was the guy that was always there for anyone in need. Even though we thought he was invincible and would defy the odds no matter what hit him, it was cancer that took him in the end. He will be missed by all who knew him. Aside from his wife, Vinnie is survived by two sons, Michael V. Spescia and his wife Linda of Canton and Thomas A. Spescia and his wife Joanne of Southern Pines, NC; two granddaughters, Serena and Alina Spescia, and a brother and his wife, Paul and Lee Spescia of Florida. Vinnie was predeceased by two beloved aunts, Loretta and Theresa. Friends may gather with the family during calling hours at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Monday, February 4th from 5-8pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 5th, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery in Collinsville.
