Obituary for Scott E. Davis

Scott E. Davis
Scott E. Davis, age 71, of Simsbury died peacefully on March 7 after a brief illness. He was born on May 7, 1945 to the late Arthur and Helen Davis in Meriden, CT. He graduated from Platt High School in Meriden, CT and attended the University of Vermont, graduating in 1967. He completed graduate studies at UCLA’s School of Management with certifications in Organizational Development and Behavior.

He worked for 12 years at the CIGNA Corporation and left to pursue a successful entrepreneurial endeavor in order to sell “The Kitchen Man”. He continued his work in management training and education, specializing in the areas of diversity, inclusion and conflict management while working with Fortune 500 companies. As an advocate that individuals should take responsibility for themselves, he wrote several workbooks focusing on managing one’s own life and career. His best known book, “Career Power”, was published by Simon and Schuster and sold over 100,000 copies. He was also recognized as a member of Who’s Who in America.

He loved all sports, having a particular passion for the Boston Red Sox, and was a coach with the Simsbury women’s youth and high school soccer programs.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Lauren Davis of Williston, VT and grandchildren Tyler and Alexa; his daughter and son-in-law, Kate and Steven Whidden, of Northport, AL and grandchildren Bailey and Madison; his partner Linda Collins of Simsbury, CT; brother Jeffrey A. Davis and his wife Dottie of San Diego, CA; and brother Mark H. Davis and his wife Joanne of Kennebunk, ME and nephews Josh, Aaron and Jason.

To celebrate Scott’s life, an open house will be heled between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 18th at 32 Terrys Plain Road in Simsbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donation of your choice. The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Scott’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online condolences.
