Obituary for Anne A. Calabrese

Anne (Adamo) Calabrese, 94, of Simsbury, beloved wife of John G. Calabrese, died Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was born July 1, 1923 in Middletown, daughter of the late Sebastian and Jennie Adamo and had lived in Middletown prior to moving to Simsbury almost 50 years ago. Anne was a graduate of Columbia University having received her Masters Degree in Education. Mrs. Calabrese was an Elementary Teacher in the West Hartford School System for many years prior to her retirement in 1975. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Anne enjoyed opera having been a member of the New Britain Opera Club as well as gardening and reading.
 
Besides her loving husband of 48 years, she is survived by her Nephews Joseph Adamo wife Robin, great nephew Robert; nephew John Conochalla wife Sharon; niece Wallis Mason, great nephew Everett Arconti; her sister-in-law, Mary Adamo; her Goddaughter, Kaily Hauck and two great great nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Alfia Adamo; her brothers, Joseph and Salvatore Adamo and two nieces, Janice Ambruso and Hollis Adamo.
 
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 2nd at St. Mary’s Church, 946 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Private burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
