Obituary for Joseph Sliwa

Joseph Sliwa, 98, of Simsbury, husband of the late Genowefa (Malec) Sliwa, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at his home. He was born March 15, 1920 in Poland, son of the late Joseph and Regina Sliwa and had lived in Simsbury for almost 70 years. Mr. Sliwa was employed by Ensign Bickford for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Joseph had enjoyed vegetable gardening.

He is survived by his daughter, Sophia Reilly of Nashua, NH; three grandchildren, Teresa Vieweg and her husband Eric of Wethersfield, Regina DiBenedetto and her husband Charlie of Newington and Kristine Kennedy of Keene, NH; four great grandchildren, Lindsey and Lucas Vieweg and Cooper and Kyle Kennedy and his son-in-law, Rocco Vitaliano. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Vitaliano and a grandson, Vincenzo Vitaliano.

Joseph’s family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Thursday, September 27th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury.
