Obituary for Pauline Elizabeth "Polly" Lyons

Pauline “Polly” Elizabeth Lyons, 72, of East Windsor, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, after a courageous battle with Huntington’s disease. Though her journey was marked with challenges, her legacy of resilience and joy will be remembered by all those who knew her.

She was born on April 24, 1951 in Newton, MA, daughter of the late David and Mary (Brennan) Lyons and had lived in Gloucester, MA, as well as North Conway, NH prior to moving to East Windsor. She received her degree from the University of Massachusetts and was a Speech Pathologist until the birth of her daughter, at which time she chose to leave the workplace and embrace her role as a devoted and loving stay-at-home mother.

Polly was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport, MA, and volunteered with the Youth Religious Education program there for many years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, skiing and hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire in her free time.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Alexis Slabinski and son-in-law John Slabinski of Tariffville, grandchildren Kenna O’Brien and Adeline Slabinski of Tariffville, sister Patricia Carvelli and husband Lou Carvelli of Waltham, MA, brother Tom Lyons and spouse Linda Lyons of Weymouth, MA, and brother Mike Lyons and spouse Netty Lyons of Peabody, MA, along with her fifteen nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Wednesday, April 3rd from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
