Obituary for Elizabeth B. Wilbraham

Elizabeth “Betsy” (Brown) Wilbraham, 82, of Canton, wife of Geoffrey Wilbraham, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012. She was born June 22, 1929 in Lancaster, PA, the only daughter of the late James A. and Josephine (Millar) Brown and had lived in Simsbury and Williamsburg, VA prior to moving to Canton six years ago. Betsy attended Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, MD and was a graduate of St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, NC. For over thirty years Betsy was heavily involved in all aspects of life at Westminster School during Geoffrey’s teaching and coaching career. Betsy loved school life and was always very much people oriented. She enjoyed gardening, golf, bridge and mahjongg. Above all, she valued her many friends. Besides her husband of forty six years she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Yvette Wilbraham and a grand-daughter Katherine Mae of Glastonbury. Katherine was a great joy in Betsy’s later years. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Arnold Wilbraham of Canada. Betsy was predeceased by her first husband Russell Vernon Johnson, tragically killed in an automobile accident in 1963. She is survived by many members of the Johnson family including, Barbara Zyla, Julie Zyla-Bednarz and her husband Michael Bednarz and son Austin; Emily and Richard Kellogg and her son Clinton Andrews and daughter Tiffany and husband Allen Jervy. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 29th, 2:00 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 55 River Road in Collinsville.
