Thelma the Artist
Thelma came to the Farmington Valley Arts Center as a student while I was the Executive Director. She wanted to learn collage and discovered instructor Debi Pendell. Once I retired Thelma and I wound up in a class Debi was teaching. We moved on together, and with several others, to form a group called "mixus" 10 years ago. Thelma's lovely cleanly cut powder colored scenes will be remembered for their simple understandable beauty. Her work was distinctive and charming. A seemingly uncomplicated person, she and I shared a connection to Omega Institute where we each took workshops in NY just over the border. I will always remember dear Thelma as a strong quiet presence who spoke from her purity. She will be missed in the art community!
