Obituary for Carl D. Eisenmann

Carl Eisenmann, 88, died peacefully in his home Monday September 12, 2016. He was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1928 to Victor F. Eisenmann and Mayette (Barnes) Eisenmann. Carl is a graduate of Georgetown University Law School and was admitted to the Connecticut and Washington D.C. bars. He joined the Air Force in 1952, serving in the JAG Corps as a Staff Judge Advocate, including prosecutions, defense counsel, legal advice to the base commander, Military Judge, and Summary Court Martial. In the course of one of his earliest cases he was cross-examining a rather difficult witness when he and she realized they were immediately deeply in love. Carl married Lt. Nancy Koenig on May 19, 1956, and recently celebrated their 60th anniversary, more in love than ever. Son Robert was born in 1957, and William in 1959. While Nancy made the home, Carl served in the Air Force Reserves, and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Connecticut. His 24 years of military service included stints in Tripoli during the Korean War, then stateside at Hanscom AFB, Bedford, MA; Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, Alabama; Otis AFB, Cape Cod, MA. After his distinguished military career, Carl turned to public service, first as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Connecticut, then as an Assistant Public Defender for the Hartford Judicial District, then presiding Public Defender for Litchfield JD until his retirement. He was active in state and local boards and commissions, including the Simsbury Police Commission, the Simsbury Republican Town Committee, State of Connecticut Board of Parole, Simsbury Rotary and The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts. He was a member of the Hartford County, Litchfield County and Connecticut Bar Associations, Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association., State of Connecticut Public Defender Services Commission, and as a Justice of the Peace. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Koenig Eisenmann, son William Eisenmann and his wife Jurgita Eisenmann of Wethersfield, son Robert Eisenmann of Costa Mesa, California, and four beloved grandchildren Christina, Katie, Jake and Alexandra. Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street on TODAY, Thursday, September 15th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday September 16th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Friday followed by burial with military honors in Simsbury Cemetery.
