Obituary for George McCarron

George S. McCarron, 79, of Avon, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 31, 1937 in Bristol, son of George and Johanna (Philpott) McCarron. He was involved for many years with the Avon Little League. He never cheered for any one team, but encouraged all the kids to play their best. George was an avid New York Yankees and UCONN Basketball fan. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage. He is survived by his sisters, Joan Groskritz and her husband Richard and Mary Bisson and her husband Frank, all of Coventry. He also leaves seven nieces and nephews, Gary and Stephen Groskritz of Coventry, Donna Groskritz Ruggs of New London, Eric Bisson of Virginia Beach, VA, Holly Bisson Fawell of Sterling, Heather Bisson of New York, NY and Darryl Bisson of Taiwan. He also leaves a very special friend, Jill Goodwin of Avon. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at John Dempsey Hospital. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Thursday, April 20th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 21st at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bristol, at a time to be announced.
