Obituary for Donald Eckberg

Donald Eckberg
Donald Ralph Eckberg, 67, of Burlington passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Don was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, son of the late Robert and Irene. He graduated from the University of Michigan and worked in insurance. He moved to Connecticut and lived in Collinsville and Burlington while working for The Stanley Works and Marsh, retiring in 2016 as Senior Vice President.
He leaves behind his loving brother, Bill and wife Susan, his partner, Kathy Taylor, stepson Stephen and his wife Kathleen Parr and stepdaughter Nicole Penttila and their mother, Joan Eckberg, as well as aunts, an uncle and many cousins and friends.
Don was an avid skier, golfer and tennis player, drone pilot and a virtual reality geek, but his greatest pleasure was flying in his Defiant, which he and his close friend, Richard Marr, spent a decade building. Don was smart, funny, kind and generous. He was beloved by many and is and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 19th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. His family will receive friends prior to the service, starting at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030. Please visit Don's "Book of Memories" at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online condolences.
