Obituary for Alan Moore Barnicoat

Alan Moore Barnicoat, 77, passed on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Bristol, CT. He was the husband of Jean (Osborn) Barnicoat of Collinsville. Born In Warwick, RI he was the son of the late Stanley and Edna (Ingerson) Barnicoat. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of RI and a Master’s Degree from Southern Connecticut State College. Alan was a Speech Pathologist in the Hartford Public Schools for many years.
He leaves two children Cristina (Barnicoat) Lynders of Connecticut and Derrick Barnicoat of Kurtistown, Hawaii, as well as one granddaughter, Kathryn Lynders. Alan also leaves a sister, Alayne Barnicoat, of Providence, RI.
A friend of Alan’s saw him as a Renaissance Man. He had an avid interest in the arts -recording two songs that he had written in 1958 and acting with the Hartford Stage and Simsbury Light Opera Co. Alan was also an artist who created and appreciated the abstract. He frequented jazz clubs in Providence in the 60’s and played R&B on his Hammond in Hartford. He appreciated animals both domestic and wild and could often be found bird watching or helping on the whale watch boats in Wellfleet.
