Obituary for Rosemarie C. Olson (Barlow)

Rosemarie C. (Barlow) Olson, 91, of Canton, wife of the late Richard A. Olson, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at her home. She was born January 21, 1928 in Hartford, daughter of the late Harold William and Rose (Donohue) Barlow and has lived in Canton all her life. Mrs. Olson worked for the United States Postal Service for many years. During retirement she spent countless hours lending a helping hand on the family farm. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville, the Granby Quilters Guild, Friday Quilters, Collinsville Ladies Fire Auxiliary and the Cawasa Grange. Rosemarie was an avid quilter, was a fan of UConn Women’s Basketball, high school and youth soccer, and little league softball and baseball. She was affectionately known as “Hey You” to many around town. Rosemarie also enjoyed family activities and took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Olson and his wife Patricia of Newington, Timothy Olson of Canton, and William Olson and his wife Lynne of Canton; grandchildren, Jessica Olson (Rory Parker), Kaitlin Cuas (Marco Cuas), Elizabeth Olson, Eric Olson, Whitney Ross (Jonathan Ross, Jr) and Taylor Olson (Kristen Olson); great grandchildren, Max and Eloise Druckenmiller, Oliver Parker, Alexander Cuas and Gianna Ross; nephews, Kevin and Brian Barlow; sister-in-law, Cathy Barlow; and dear friend Eileen Umpleby. She was predeceased by her brother Michael Barlow.
There are no calling hours. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Church, 50 Church Street in Collinsville. Burial will follow in Dyer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
