Obituary for Richard Calvin Sanger

Richard Calvin “Dick” Sanger, 88, of Canton, husband of the late Eleanor M. Sanger, died Saturday, April 13, 2019. He was born August 12, 1930 in New York, NY, son of the late Edmond and Cleara (Wilde) Sanger and had lived in Canton since 1955. Dick was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Air Force. He received his Bachelors from Trinity College and was a graduate of the UCONN Law School. Attorney Sanger started his own practice in Canton in 1965, retiring after 40 plus years. Dick was a member of the Lions Club, Republican Town Committee, Canton Land Trust, Canton Board of Ed, the Canton Chamber of Commerce and the Canton Historical society. He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, shooting squirrels and was a fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball.
He is survived by his son, Robert Calvin Sanger and his wife Christine Andreoli-Sanger of Canton; his grandchildren, Elanna Christine Sanger of Canton and Ryan Calvin Sanger of Phoenix, AZ and his longtime companion, Lois Carroll of Canton.
The family will receive friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Monday, April 22nd from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 23rd at the First Congregational Church of Canton Center, 184 Cherry Brook Road in Canton. Burial with military honors will follow in Dyer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS, PO BOX 168, Collinsville, CT 06022.
