Obituary for Joseph Paul "Jay" Mihaly Jr.

Joseph Paul “Jay” Mihaly, Jr., 53, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was born May 11, 1965 in Hartford, the beloved son of Judith (Ellsworth) Mihaly of Canton and the late Joseph “Buddy” Mihaly, Sr. Jay was a veteran of the US Army and was in the construction industry. Jay was one of the first Cadets of the Canton Volunteer Fire Department having become a member shortly after. He was an avid dog lover, enjoyed spending time at the beach, hanging at LaSalle Market in Collinsville and going to concerts. Above all, his favorite thing was spending time with his family, especially his nieces and grand niece.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Ruth Veneziano Leaver and her husband Doug; his nieces, Katelyn Mathena and Kristin Fotiathis and her husband John; the apple of his eye and pride and joy, grand niece Averi Fotiathis; his uncle, Buster and Diann Ellsworth and many cousins. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Ralph “Bompa” and Alice “Nannie” Ellsworth and Mae “Nannie” Page.
Jays family welcomes friends at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton Wednesday, April 24th from 4-7 with a service at 7:00. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
