Obituary for Timothy W. Bradley

Timothy William Bradley of Canton, CT passed away on May 14, 2019 after a year long battle with cancer. He was born on April 22, 1947 in his childhood home, to the late LeRoy William and Claribel (Oles) Bradley. He lived in Canton his entire life and he had fond memories of his childhood and of trips to Twin Lakes. He graduated from Canton High School in 1966. Tim grew up in a simpler time: he did not have much but he was not wanting for anything. He carried that principle throughout his life. He was a quiet, caring, unassuming, friendly and thoughtfully gentle man. He enjoyed listening to the radio and rock & roll music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, fishing locally and in Maine, and he was exceptionally talented in tinkering with small engines and machines. He had no children and was never married. Tim enjoyed a simple life. He enjoyed his time alone but also cherished his time with his dear friends - Bernie, Richard, Joe & Debbie, Howard and Joe, and wonderful neighbors Anil, Hira, Arlene and Jim.

In 1968, he was drafted into military service. Tim was a veteran of the Vietnam War - attaining the rank of Specialist in the Army, in Troop L, 11th Armed Cavalry. He served with distinction and honor. In his one tour of duty, he was decorated by two Purple Hearts, the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and the Vietnam Service Medal (with 3 Bronze Service Stars).

After retiring, from R.L. Turick & Co. as a machinist, he enjoyed walking the Farmington River Trails in Canton and Collinsville, spending time fishing in Maine with friends, fixing machines and trips to Maine with family.
He was one of four siblings: he was predeceased by his sister Connie Leach and his brother Charlie. He is survived by his brother Bob of Anaheim, CA and his niece Suzanne Davenport and her husband Bob, of Sandy Hook, CT. He is also predeceased by his nephew William LeRoy Tullock-Baker.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home at 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton, CT on Tuesday May 21st at 11:30 AM. Calling hour will be held prior, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Tim’s wish was to be cremated and his ashes scattered in the places he loved, so that he would be blowing in the wind. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tim’s favorite radio station, WWMM, P.O. Box 175, Collinsville, CT 06022 or to the Farmington Valley Trails Council, Inc. (FVTC), Post Office Box 576, Tariffville, CT 06081. Please visit Tim’s Book of Memories for online tributes.
