Obituary

Colin Stuart McRavey, 46, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2019. Colin was the son of the late John McRavey and Josephine Hughes. He was born in Castleraegh, Northern Ireland, and was raised in his beloved Glasgow, Scotland, where he attended St Aloysius School and the University of Strathclyde. Colin lived a full and purposeful life. He completed dozens of endurance races around the world and was an Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finisher. He was an avid cyclist, gamer, scientist, IT executive, Patriots superfan, scuba instructor, pilot, and professional chef. Colin was first in his MBA class at Pepperdine University then pursued a culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu School, where he again finished first in his class. He trained at acclaimed restaurant The Fat Duck in Bray, England, rated the world’s best restaurant. After a successful professional career in the pharmaceutical industry, Colin worked for the past 8 years at Veeva Systems, where he was Sr Director in the Customer Services Division. Colin’s greatest sources of pride and joy were his 2 adoring children, Abigail and Andrew. He also leaves behind a loving wife, Anne; brothers Keith and Thomas; sisters Lyndsay Quinn and Laura-Anne Carroll; parents-in-law, Stephen and Mary Gail Mongillo; and best friend, David Burns. Colin was a brother-in-law, uncle, friend, mentor, and colleague to many and will be greatly missed. Anne, Andrew and Abby. I just wanted to say how sorry i am, this news has hit us all pretty hard. Colin was a true friend to our little gaming group and we will miss him dearly.
I first met Colin through HEX over half a decade ago and we quickly became friends. In the time i knew him he helped me much and in so many ways. He supported me in achieving my goals and was always there for me. Without him i would not be where i am today. I cannot express how much love i had for him. I experienced things with Colin i would have no way of experiencing otherwise. His drive and generosity inspired us all to be better. He was a truly great man and we are lucky to have known him. We had just made plans to meet up again in November, i cannot process yet that we aren't going to see him again.

Please let me know if there is anything i can do. I hope you guys are okay.

Neo, thanks for your words. It's great to see the impact Colin had on you. Being here in Southern California, I had multiple opportunities to talk with Colin when he was at the Hex/Cryptozoic offices. As you state, he was always generous, friendly and supportive. We all know the great impact he had on the Hex community and for that we are terrifically grateful. Thank you to his whole family for sharing him with us. We are sadden and heartbroken with you for your loss. -Todd (TalonBreck)
