Louis Mathew Venezia, 91, of Avon, beloved husband of Joanne (Gates) Venezia, died Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at his home with family by his side. He was born October 27, 1927 in Norwalk, son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Renzulli) Venezia and had lived in West Simsbury for 30 years prior to moving to Avon. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Lou was a graduate of UCONN, Class of 1954, having received his Bachelors Degree in Business. Lou was a Director of Claims for CIGNA for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury. Lou loved taking day trips around New England but his favorite activity was spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by three sons, Mark Venezia of Windsor, Joseph Venezia and his wife Tracey of South Windsor and John Venezia of Southport; his daughter, Ann Carabillo and her husband Paul of Simsbury and five grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan and Jamie Venezia and Amy and Nicholas Carabillo.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 11th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. Burial will be private.
