Obituary for Barrett Robert Lucas

Barrett Robert Lucas, 87, of West Simsbury, husband of the late Leita Joan (Monroe) Lucas, died Monday, March 9, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. He was born February 16, 1933 in Mount Holly, NJ, and raised in Burlington, NJ as the son of the late David Baird and Beatrice (McConnell) Lucas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served two years on active duty in Laon, France serving with the 38th Bomb Wing. Barrett was a graduate of Bordentown Military Academy and MIT. He received his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Lucas was the Director of International and European Sales and Marketing for Pratt and Whitney for many years prior to his retirement. Barrett enjoyed spending time on his properties feeding and adoring all the wildlife. He was an avid fan of UCONN Women’s basketball, but most of all enjoyed spending time with family.

He is survived by his daughter, Dana Lucas of Clinton; his three grandchildren, Ross and Scott Mocko of Marlborough and Courtney (Mocko) Jones and her husband Jake Jones of Milford, DE; his sister-in-law, Marie Lucas of East Greenwich, RI; his nieces, Stephanie Malloch and Christine Mather and his nephew David Lucas. He also leaves two great nieces Rachel and Ali, a great nephew CJ and a great, great niece Iylah. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Brian Lucas and his brother, Duane “Mike” Lucas.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 16th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial with military honors will follow in Middletown Veteran’s Cemetery.
