Obituary for Charlotte Elizabeth Winfield

Charlotte Elizabeth (Wieninger) Winfield, 87, of Canton, wife of the late Joseph Winfield, died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at home surrounded by family. She was born October 1, 1933 in Aidenbach, Germany, daughter of the late Ernst and Katharina (Maier) Wieninger, and had lived in Highland, NY prior to moving to Canton 7 years ago. Mrs. Winfield was a long-time employee of IBM. She worked as a Bank Teller prior to her retirement (for Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union). She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury. Charlotte enjoyed tennis, NASCAR (especially Tony Stewart and Joey Logano), traveling (Hawaii was her favorite destination), reading, playing solitaire and spending time with her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Benson and her husband William of Collinsville; her granddaughter, Alyssa Weiss and her husband Derek of Canton; two grandsons, Tobias Benson and his wife Erin of Higganum and Justin Benson and his wife Veronica of Canton; her great grandchildren, Katherine and Audrey Weiss, Kaylee, Molly and Lily Benson and Junior, Isabel, Amelia and Chase Benson and her stepdaughter Kelly Popchock, her husband Ron and their children, Joe and Riley, of Oviedo, FL.

Private services will be in the Simsbury Cemetery.
