Lee J. Hanson, Jr., 85, of Simsbury, CT and Sun City West, AZ, husband of the late Barbara (McAndrew) Hanson, died Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at McLean in Simsbury. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born January 14, 1936 in New York City, son of the late Lee Hanson, Sr. and Julia (Lewallen Sedgwick) Hanson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and had been an Engineer for New York Telephone for many years prior to his retirement in 1991. Lee was a devout Catholic serving as Deacon for nearly 40 years in the Albany, NY and Phoenix, AZ Roman Catholic Dioceses. Among his responsibilities, he ministered to the sick in hospitals and nursing homes and facilitated bible study classes for prison inmates. Lee was a long-time member of the Third Order of St. Francis. While in Connecticut, he was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Simsbury. Lee loved music and was a talented trombone player. He is survived by his four daughters, Julia Shannon and her partner Bobby of St. Augustine, FL, Fran Donohue and husband Glen of Mahopac, NY, Mary Greggains and husband Nick of Simsbury, CT and Terri Moran and husband Tim of Holliston, MA; seven grandchildren, Tim Guilbeault and wife Michelle, Bobby Bianconi and wife Jayme, Amanda Bianconi and fiancÈe Dean, Jack Moran, Lia Moran, Sophie Greggains, and Matthew Greggains and three great grandchildren, Joshua and Claire Guilbealt and Jaxon Bianconi. In addition to his beloved wife of 56 years, Lee was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Jane Witek and his brother, Bill Hanson. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 26th. All are invited to remotely attend by visiting his Book of Memories at to view the livestream of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to McLean Skilled Nursing (a not-for-profit provider of quality, compassionate senior care), 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT 06070. They lovingly cared for Lee, and his family is forever grateful.

My Uncle Lee's laughter and sense of humor would bring all us kids to tears. He and Aunt Barbara were here for me and my mom in our time of need, as he administered her last rights. Beautiful service. Love to All, Jenny and Dale Korona
