Obituary for Paula Gallagher
Paula (Hudzik) Gallagher, 84, passed away at home in Simsbury on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 surrounded her children and beloved husband of 60 years, James W. Gallagher. Paula was born May 11, 1937 and was a graduate of Harding High School in Bridgeport and Connecticut Teachers College (now CCSU). She was executive accountant for Connecticut Building Specialties, and member of St. Mary’s Church and Hop Meadow Country Club. Paula enjoyed bowling, golf and, most especially, spending time with her cherished grandchildren Waide, Wyatt, Brendan, Aidan, Declan, Emmett, Melissa, Amanda, Alexa and Evan.
In addition to her husband Jim, Paula is survived by her children, Mary Gallagher of Los Angeles, CA, James Jr. (Stacie) of Simsbury, Michael (Margaret) of Simsbury, and Gregory (Christine) of East Granby; and her siblings, Patricia Ness (Phil) of Pittsburgh, PA, Ellen Costa of Fairfield, Cecilia Hudzik of Fairfield, and Michael Hudzik (Susan) of Trumbull. Paula was also the proud aunt to 13 treasured nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Pauline (Palowski) Hudzik and sister, Mary Alice.
The family will receive friends during a walk through visitation on Wednesday, May 26th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 27th at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Masks are required at church. A private burial will be held on Friday May 28th. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made in Paula’s name with the organization of your choice.
