Obituary for Italo DiFronzo

A true renaissance man Italo answered the call of the Almighty Father Friday, October 1, 2021.

He was a longtime resident of New Hartford, CT and more recently of Avon, CT.
Born in Grottiminarda, Italy he immigrated to the United States at the age of 14 where he became a proud American citizen. He attended and graduated from Hartford Public High School, Ward School of Electronics, University of Hartford, with a bachelors degree, and the Colorado School of Mines.

He began his career as a math and science teacher and soccer coach at Oliver Wolcott Regional Vocational Technical School in Torrington. After retiring in 1996, he taught in the Canton Middle School/High School for 10 years.

Over the years his interests were many, from building his New Hartford home, running his Calzone business at local fairs for 10 years, owning a landscaping business and many others. Through his grit and determination, he accomplished all successfully.
His greatest achievement and pride was his family. His wife of 55 years, Carol Nicolini, whom he met his junior year in high school 61 years ago was his best friend, while his daughter, Chiara Maria DiFronzo and his treasured grandson Colton Custer were his pride and joy.

Italo was predeceased by his parents Felice DiFronzo and Maria Di Chiara along with his two older sisters Rosetta Stermieri and Carpina Zotti.

Besides his wife Carol, daughter and grandson, he leaves his son-in-law Derek Custer, his extended family, nieces and nephews in Italy and cousins in USA along with many close family, friends and his companion German Shepherd dog Ziva.

Family and friends may gather at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Monday October 11, 2021 between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM in celebration of Italo’s life. Please visit Italo's Book of Memories at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes.
