Obituary for Josephine L. Iken

Josephine Loretta (Fischer) Iken, 82, of Avon, wife of the late Diederich Gottfried “Dick” Iken, Jr., died Sunday, October 3, 2021. She was born February 24, 1939 in Queens, NY, daughter of the late William and Catherine (Dunne) Fischer, and had lived in Collinsville for many years. Mrs. Iken worked as a Library Aide in Canton High School and was a Daycare Teacher for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville. Jo enjoyed camping, traveling and gardening and most of all taking care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Lisa Lafferty of Schodack Landing, NY, Heidi O’Donnell and her husband Tim of Canton, Eric Iken and his wife Cheryl of Fairfield and Julie Sawyer and her husband Mark of Canton; her two sisters, Betty Arleth, and Patricia Ketchel and husband Tom; her grandchildren, Christian, Jacob and Caroline Lafferty; Aidan and Liam O’Donnell and Ryan, Colin and Joseph Iken and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond and William Fischer and two sisters, Jean Miller and Geraldine Nourse.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 9th at the Calvary Cemetery on Collins Road in Collinsville.
