Obituary for Mary Andersen (Stinneford)

Mary D. Andersen, 80, of New Hartford, CT died on February 20 at her home after a brave battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Stinneford. Predeceased by her husband Emile Daglio, she was the beloved wife of Hans J. Andersen for 17 years. Besides her husband, she leaves her children Suzanne (Skip) Krause, Mary (Scott) Eastman, Michael (Pauline) Daglio, Kenneth (Michele) Daglio and stepchildren Mark (Alison) Andersen and Lisa (Tom) Andersen. She was the proud grandmother (aka Peewee) of Emilee, Jacqueline, Jordan, Eli, Ben and Noah. She was predeceased by two brothers, William (Joyce) and Charles (Jane) Stinneford and leaves her sisters Catherine (Bob) Walther, Joanne Halsen, Elizabeth (Mike) Mosseau and her brothers John (Sandy) and Richard (Teresa) Stinneford. Mary also had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mary attended St. Bonaventure University and graduated from Colby College where she was part of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She retired from the University of Hartford after a long and rewarding career. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a good crossword puzzle, traveling and college basketball - especially the Hartford Hawks and UCONN. She was a volunteer at the New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department.

Services will be private with a celebration of life on June 18, 2022 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the University of Hartford’s 1877 Club. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mary Andersen Library Fund, c/o the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117.
