Obituary for Pamela Lentz

Pamela Bailey Lentz passed away surrounded by family on the evening of Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was 66 years old.

Pam was born on July 27, 1955 in Washington, D.C. to Emily Fugitt Bailey and the late Frederick Bailey. Pam was the third of ten Bailey children. The family moved to Ashford, CT in 1968.

Pam loved the ocean, cooking, music and dancing (sometimes all at once). A passionate hostess, she loved to entertain and surround herself with friends and family. Pam was a cherished and dedicated member of her community. She was highly empathetic and a strong leader who focused her career on education and working with special needs students. Through her work in the South Windsor School District, The Learning Incentive/Ben Bronze Academy, and as a valuable member of Canton School District, she left an indelible mark on many lives.

For over two decades, her work at the Canton schools became a great source of joy for her. Selfless and compassionate, she had boundless energy to serve others, whether that be colleagues, students, or loved ones.

Pam is survived by her beloved children, Stephanie Lentz, Ben Lentz and wife Shalyn; grandchildren, Dylan and Eva Lentz; mother, Emily Bailey; siblings, Deborah Redman, Cynthia Bailey, Emily Bailey and husband Darrick McGuire, Holly Bailey, Wendall Bailey, Michael Bailey, Douglas Bailey and wife Lori, Timothy Bailey and wife Nancy, Orson Bailey; partner William Hurd; niece Hannah Stadterman and husband Drew, amongst many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Frederick Bailey, and siblings Annette Dubicki, Ruth Stafford, and Frederick Bailey Jr.

Pam is also survived by her loyal sisterhood of friends, The Ya Ya’s. At first connected by their children, The Ya Ya’s went on to enjoy many seaside adventures and created a special family of their own. Their sisterhood lives on through the Petitte Ya Ya’s.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton, on Thursday, March 3rd, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Hartford Hospital Department of Philanthropy, 80 Seymour St., PO Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102.
