Obituary for Demian John Fontanella

Demian John Fontanella, 51, of Avon Connecticut, beloved husband of Sheila and father of Kalista, passed away at John Dempsey Hospital after a long battle with cancer on Thursday March 24, 2022. He was born in Meriden, CT, on October 12th, 1970 to Jack Fontanella and Pamela Oblon Konopka. He graduated from Platt High School in Meriden in 1988. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Albuquerque, NM, where he became an Air Force Medic. Following this, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Charter Oak State College. He then went on to obtain his JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law. During this time, he was a long term employee of UConn Health. He continued his state employment as an attorney with The Office of Healthcare Advocates for 7 years before becoming general counsel for the Office of Health Strategy. He was also an adjunct professor for Ashford University for many years.

In addition to his loving wife and daughter, he is survived by his aunt Christine Oblon of Meriden, Connecticut, his brother Nathan Konopka and wife Monica of Flower Mound, Texas, his step mother Jenna Fontanella and brother Tulio of Juneau, Alaska, brother-in-law David Dillman and his significant other Robin Wilson of Peabody, Massachusetts and many extended family members and dear friends.
