Obituary for Howard R. Sussdorff

Howard R. Sussdorff, 80, of Burlington, died peacefully at UCONN Hospital on October 25, 2022, of Covid. Howard served in the U.S. Navy out of high school. He was a Burlington Volunteer Fireman for 30 years during which time on a search for a missing boy, he rescued him in the woods. He was elected to the Zoning Board of Appeals for many years until his son Robert was elected to take over the seat. Howard was also a Shriner for 40 years. He owned and operated three separate business for 37 years before retiring to Florida to go boating and “be warm”. He loved sailing on his boat the “Certionia”.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Sylvia and three children, his loving and devoted son, Robert Sussdorff of Burlington; his daughters Sharon Cichon of Burlington and Cynthia Abbott of Bristol; his sister, Barbara Sussdorff of New York; a caring and loving grandson, Paul Gionfriddo and wife Audrey of Burlington and a granddaughter, Megan Abbott of Bristol.
