Obituary for Diana Woodberry

Diana W Woodberry died October 31, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Born April 12, 1942 in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, she moved to Greenwich, Connecticut in 1961 and graduated from Smith College in May 1964. She was the daughter of Vincent Ellis Wentworth and Elizabeth Campbell

Wentworth. Diana was predeceased by her brother Gordon and her sister Susan. Besides her husband N. Dane Woodberry of fifty-eight years, she is survived by her daughters Pamela Taylor Forbes of Amston, Connecticut and Linda Campbell Kulinski of Canton, Connecticut and her sister Lee Ellis

Wentworth of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren - Andrew and Marley Forbes, Caitlin Colley, and Kevin, Kyle, and Connor Kulinski.

Diana always had a great love of music, whether it was with the First Church of Christ Simsbury choir, the Simsbury Senior Center singing group the Intonations, or just playing her piano at home. She married her love Dane the summer after she graduated from college. They then went to the University of New York at Buffalo where Diana received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and Dane received a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.

Diana accompanied Dane during his four years service in the United States Air Force while she taught and raised their daughters Pamela and Linda. Diana’s working career included teaching, office work, and employment in the Town of Simsbury finance department.

The most important thing to Diana, except for her family, was her love of learning, which she continued by obtaining an Associate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Northwestern Connecticut Community College when she was forty-two and where she was awarded Phi Theta Kappa in recognition of her academic excellence. Following employment locally in that capacity, Diana enjoyed taking local adult education courses until cancer kept her from pursuing such activities.

Diana was an active member of the American Association of University Women and later became a member of the Simsbury Woman’s Club for several years. She was an active member of First Church of Christ Simsbury for over fifty years, during many of which she sang in the church choir. Diana was a friend of Bill W for over thirty years.
