Obituary for John Jagielski

At this one year anniversary period, we look back and remember John Jagielski, 50, who passed away unexpectedly at home on January 10, 2022.

John was the son of Barbara and Joseph Jagielski of Southington. John attended school in Bristol and Southington over the years through high school, and went on to earn an Electronics Technician Certificate from New England Tech in New Britain.

His skills extended beyond electronics, to mechanics. He once purchased a used Buick which could only go in reverse. The family owned the “back 40” then, so naturally there was a defunct Buick LeSabre-for-parts on site. After getting it home (thankfully a short distance), John changed out the transmission on his new purchase working through the night, outside in the snow, and got ‘er done. The soundtrack for this repair was surely Metallica.

Drawn by the warm weather, John lived for a time out West. When he returned home to Connecticut, he had many adventures to share including filling in as extra help when Nascar had come to his locale, and telemarketing for Schwarzenegger’s political campaign. John would easily call up his best Austrian accent, as he recalled reaching out to potential voters on behalf of “The Governator.” He carried fond memories of his special old friend “Lee,” whom he met while working at his very first part-time job, at Johnson & Johnson. John was always grateful for his “9-11 cat” Jackie, a stray that approached him on that day in 2001 and provided comfort then and beyond. John did not like to say goodbye, he preferred “Peace Out.”

John leaves his sisters, Margaret Gonzales of Bristol, Lee (Vittie) Peterson of East Hartford, Judy Jagielski of Palestine, TX, and Gail (Mark) Wakelin of Manchester, aunts Florence Plonski of Bristol, and Evelyn Jagielski of Canfield, Ohio, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents and brothers James and Raymond.
