Her artistic talent also carried on with love of painting, particularly scenes from coastal Maine, her home state, as well as working with ceramics. She was also an avid reader, loved feeding and watching birds and was able to fulfill her childhood dream of traveling to Norway to visit a pen pal who she started writing to during World War II.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny Goetjen and husband Kent of Charleston, SC; her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Colvin of Bloomfield; her grandchildren, Kurt Goetjen and wife Deanna of Boston, MA, Austin Goetjen of Orlando, FL, Kelsey Goetjen of Simsbury and Allyson Colvin of West Haven and her nephews, Peter Richards and wife Patti of Canton, ME and Gary Richards of Lake Tahoe. She was predeceased by her son, Kevin S. Colvin; her brothers, Ronald L. Richards and wife Dolores “Dolly” and Arthur N. Richards and wife Beverly and her niece Gale (Richards) Rainwater.
