Obituary for Nancy Spencer Angers

Nancy Allen Spencer Angers, 97, of Avon, wife of the late Eugene George Angers, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at McLean in Simsbury. She was born August 30,1925 in Springfield, MA, daughter of Thaddeus Harold and Emily (Bemis) Spencer. She was a graduate of American International College, class of 1946, having received her Bachelor's Degree in History. Nancy grew up in Springfield, lived in Pine Meadow and in other towns in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, and prior to moving to Avon many years ago, Nancy spent many years in Pemaquid Beach and Castine, ME, where she and Gene opened and ran for 20 years a small convenience store in Castine called the Tarratine Market. Nancy enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games, trips to the ocean and she was deeply religious and prayerful her entire life.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Angers of Avon and her son, Thomas Edward Angers and husband Timothy Scot VanDaff of Lyme. She was predeceased by a son, Marc Eugene Angers and her beloved brother Thaddeus “Tad” Hugh Spencer.
