Obituary for Bernard Boswell

Bernard John “Bill” Boswell, 93, of Farmington, beloved husband of Carolyn (Sandell) Boswell, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the Station in Farmington. He was born March 29, 1930 in London, England, son of the late Walter and Eva (Rendell) Boswell and had lived in London prior to moving to Connecticut 60 years ago. He was a veteran of the British Army and had received his Associates Degree in Business from University of Hartford. He was honored to become a U.S. citizen and spent time afterwards helping other new immigrant families find their way. Mr. Boswell was a Tool Maker for most of his life and proud to have owned his own shop for a time, Triad Machine and finished his career at Jacobs Manufacturing. Bill loved to write. He joined writing clubs during his retirement and completed many short stories, poems and a few novels. He was proud to have some of his work recognized in University journals. In addition to writing, he loved to spend time outdoors bird watching, gardening and taking long walks, especially with his Dogs. He enjoyed reading and history and had a love for music. Big band and show tunes were his favorite. In his younger days, you might have found him playing those tunes on the drums at a wedding with his band or dancing to them at a local ballroom dance competition. Most of all Bill loved to spend time with and take care of his family. And at that, he was the best.

In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, he is survived by his sons, Steven Boswell and wife Kristine of Simsbury, Mark Boswell and wife Sally of Plainville and Eric Boswell and wife Jessica of Burlington; his grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, Wyatt, Bennett, Evangeline and Jaclyn and many nieces and nephews in England. He was predeceased by his siblings, Wally and Reggie Boswell and Eva McNamara.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 27th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 28th with burial to follow in Village Cemetery in Collinsville.
