Shirley Chapman Brighenti of Barkhamsted, CT passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the age of 101. She was born June 15, 1922 in Williamstown, Vermont, daughter of Minard and Gladys Chapman. She married Robert J. Brighenti of Avon, CT on March 6, 1946. Shirley is survived by her son Robert (Audrey) Brighenti of Tequesta, FL, daughters, Cynthia Kulikowski and Corrine (Donald) Steeves of Torrington, CT and Deborah (Joseph) Keevers of Winsted, CT and her beloved sister, Barbara Aivaz of Plainville, CT. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, two sons, Roger and Richard and three brothers Minard, Robert and Richard Chapman. She is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Shirley was known for her sense of humor and was the happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Her biggest joy was celebrating her 100th birthday with all the people she cared deeply for, and which remained a topic of her daily conversations. Shirley also enjoyed car rides and flower gardening. She was a diehard Red Sox fan and one of her greatest enjoyments was to watch or listen to one of their games.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. We would like to thank all the help we received from family and friends.
