Obituary for Martin Owen Aronie

Martin Owen Aronie, affectionately known as Marty, passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 75, in Canton,CT, after a long fight with cancer. Born July 4, 1948, at Newton-Wellesly Hospital, in Massachusetts. The youngest son of Asna Fisher Aronie and Israel Hosea Aronie of Needham. Marty graduated from Needham Senior High School in June of 1966. He attended Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA from 1967-1968. After college he worked for his older brother Joel at Aronie Galleries Inc., in Hartford, CT, from 1975-1982. Marty served as head of the special fabrications department, showcasing his expertise and dedication. Later he worked for Dayton Superior technologies Corp., where he was one of their top producing salesmen. Marty had a personality that would light up the room With an incredibly sharp sense of humor, he was always ready with a one-liner and a great laugh. He found delight in making others laugh and was known for his quick wit. Marty was a devoted son, brother and brother-in-law and friend. He was a gracious and generous man and you always felt welcomed in his presence. A kind man with simple wants he loved nature and being outdoors. He went on daily walks in the quiet hill town of Canton, CT, where he made his home. His wife Linda, of many years, passed in 2011. They were both ardent pet lovers. His corgis traveled with him everywhere. He enjoyed sports and tending to his garden, his birds, squirrels, and occasional bear.

He is survived by his brothers Joel, Alan, and Steven, sisters-in-laws Nancy and Rose, nieces Aprill and Shaunan and Nephew Josh. He will be greatly missed.

To honor Marty's life and memory a memorial gathering will be held in July of 2024 in Concord, MA.
