Obituary for Dorothy O'Meara (Dodd)

Dorothy Ann Dodd O’Meara “Dottie” of West Simsbury, CT beloved wife of the late B. Maxwell O’Meara “Max” died peacefully on January 24, 2024. Dottie was born June 28, 1935 in Hartford CT daughter of Florence Marks Dodd and Thomas Kilburn Dodd of West Hartford, CT. She was predeceased by her brother David Kilburn Dodd.

Great memories were made from years of skiing at Stratton and summers on Cape Cod and Nantucket with family and friends. Dottie was very active and enjoyed running, tennis, paddle tennis and skiing. She and Max travelled extensively going on many adventures around the world, her favorite destination being Vietnam.
Dottie attended Hall High School in West Hartford CT and graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in Psychology. She later got a Masters Degree in Finance from the University of Hartford and had a career as a Private Banker with CB&T. She then went on to become very successful Realtor, working for Coldwell Banker and DeWolfe.

Dottie devoted countless hours as a Skidmore alum, at the Second Chance Thrift Shop, The Wadsworth Atheneum and was a member of the Hartford Stage. She was also an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. She belonged to two bridge clubs.

Dottie leaves her three children, two sons: James O’Meara and wife Kathleen (Driscoll) O’Meara of Scituate, MA and their sons Christopher, Conor, and Jack; Peter O’Meara and his wife Heather (Saunders) O’Meara of Canton, CT and their two daughters Ann and Caroline and son Sean; and a daughter, Susi O’Meara of Wynnewood, PA and her son Owen and daughter Rhys.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday February 10 at 10am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road, West Simsbury, CT. Following the mass, burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Avenue, West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church, PO BOX 184, West Simsbury, CT 06092.
