Obituary for Yvette Fitzgerald

Yvette Aline (Fauteux) Fitzgerald, 102, of Avon, CT, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024 at UConn Health Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Coaticook, Canada on March 15,1921 to Delia (Tardiff) Fauteux and Pierre Fauteux. Her family moved to Berlin, NH when she was a young girl. Eventually, moving to Hartford, CT.

She worked at G. Fox & Co. as a Revlon representative and a model prior to marrying her husband, James (Jim) Fitzgerald in 1946. They had a wonderful, full life together having the opportunity to have homes in Maine, Arizona and Florida as well as their primary residences in Simsbury, CT and Avon, CT.

They traveled together to Europe, Hawaii, Bermuda and Puerto Rico as well as a family favorite six week tour of the USA with their four children in a station wagon the summer of 1963. This trip led to many memories that still are a family favorite topic when together. She was a woman with great strength and kindness. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family.

She and Jim loved golf and played as members at Hopmeadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT, Avon Country Club in Avon, CT and Desert Mountain Country Club in Scottsdale, AZ.

Her primary job in life was loving her family and raising her children. Both of which she did remarkably well. She is predeceased by her husband, Jim and their daughter, Cathryn J. Neriani. She is survived by her children, Laurie A. Regish and her husband, John of Avon, CT, Robert J. Fitzgerald and his wife, Heidi of Granby, CT and Susan Mitchell and her husband, Steven of Avon, CT. She also leaves behind son-in-law, Arthur Neriani of Simsbury, CT.

In addition, she was blessed to have seven grandchildren, Jason Regish of Waynesville, NC, Taryn Regish of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly Neriani of New Carlisle, OH, Caroline Neriani of Little River, SC, James Fitzgerald of New York City, NY, J.R. Phillips of Henrico, VA and Hunter Phillips of Simsbury, CT. She is great-grandmother to Elizabeth Regish, Sarah Neriani, Colby Salois and Connor Pearl. She was delighted to become the great-great grandmother to Abigail, Olivia and Matthew Ziemba. She is also survived by a sister, Gladys Adams of Hartford. She was predeceased by her brother, Philip Fauteux of Berlin NH and a sister, Pauline Whitney of Hartford, CT. In addition, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 15th at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.
