Obituary for Donald K. Segee

Donald K. Segee, 93, of Simsbury, CT, died peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024. Born and raised in Essex, CT, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Marion (Burnham) Segee. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years Nancy (Prann) Segee.

A Navy veteran, he served two years aboard the battleship USS Wisconsin BB-64 and two years aboard the submarine USS Trigger SS-564. Shortly after leaving the service he began working for Van Zelm Heywood and Shadford Engineers, retiring after 40 years. Over the years he was a member of the Simsbury Farms Men’s Golf League, the Farmington Valley Square Dance Club, Family Motor Coach Association and for many years the Assistant Scout Master for BSA Troop 171. While Simsbury was home for 63 years, he and Nancy enjoyed 20 years with family and friends at their cottage on Cape Cod. Upon retiring they enjoyed winters at their home in Titusville, FL and great adventures on the road traveling back and forth across the United States and Canada in their RV visiting all (including Alaska) but 7 states.

What was most important to him and brought him the most joy was time with family and friends. He is survived by his three children, Paula Scott and husband Daniel of Monroe, Daniel Segee of Granby, CT and Bob Segee and wife Kelly of Bloomfield; his two grandsons Andrew Scott and Benjamin Segee; his sister Ruth Sturke and three nieces, whom he adored, Sandra, Sally and Susan and their families.
