Obituary for
Alice Blanche Kiesewetter
Alice Blanche (Stanko) Kiesewetter, 72, of Simsbury, passed away on November 27, 2015. Alice was born on November 22, 1943, in Cleveland, OH. She died five days after her 72nd birthday, and forty-eight days before her 50th wedding anniversary (January 15). Alice made her home in Simsbury for the past forty-four years with her husband Warren. In order to stay home and raise her four children, Alice ran a busy home daycare for thirty-five years. She touched the lives of countless children over the years and had a rapport with children that only certain people possess. She loved the children she minded and had some children from infancy to their teen years. Alice was an incredible gardener and she nurtured and planted many beautiful flowers, plants, trees, and shrubs in her yard. For many years, she also planted a large vegetable garden. Alice had a green thumb and anything and everything grew and flourished under her care. She was also a wonderful cook and made every meal in huge quantity, a habit from years of cooking for a big family and her daycare children. She was an avid reader and would usually have a novel, reference book, or magazine in hand. She loved antiques and had a deep appreciation of heritage and history. She leaves behind a large and loving family including her husband Warren and her four children, Elizabeth, Michael, James, and Davin. She also leaves seven grandchildren ranging in age from nineteen to two, whom she loved dearly: Zackary and Mason Kiesewetter, Inga and Ethan Smith, Lindsay Kiesewetter, and Jacob and Evan Kiesewetter. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings and many nieces and nephews including her sister Irene Hutchison of North Carolina, her sister Virginia Graney of South Windsor, and her brother John Stanko of Winsted. She was predeceased by her brother Edward Stanko this past summer. She is going to be terribly missed by all of us who loved her. Calling hours will be at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Wednesday, December 2nd, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Thursday, December 3, at the Vincent Funeral Home followed by burial in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Arthritis Foundation, 1330 W. Peachtree St., Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30309 or a charity of your choice.
