Obituary for
Marilyn C. Story
Marilyn (Cavallari) Story, 69, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 20, 1947, the first daughter of 5 children to the late Steve J. Cavallari and Ida T. Cavallari of Avon. Marilyn graduated from Avon High School in 1965. She met her former husband, George Story, married and settled on Columbus Circle in Avon where she lived for many years before moving to Canton. She graduated from secretarial school at Quinnipiac College and went on to work as a secretary and many other professions throughout her life. She was a proud member of the Prince Thomas of Savoy Ladies Auxiliary in Avon. Marilyn led an active and fulfilling life. Despite her illness, she had more energy than most and actively participated in her children's and grandchildren's lives. She was an extraordinary Italian cook and pie baker. Marilyn was defined and sustained by her love of family and friends. A loving sister, daughter, mother, and nonni, she was happiest spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Despite her own declining health, she was proud to take such loving care of her parents near the end of their lives. Marilyn courageously fought a long battle with kidney disease with dignity, and a strength few possess. Marilyn will be sadly missed, but forever remembered and we cherish that she is finally at peace. We want to give a very special thank you to each and every caregiver that touched her life. She asked to be remembered as a loving, kind, giving person who loved her friends and family very much. We feel so fortunate to have had her in our lives and shared in her laughter. They do not make women like her any more, she was truly one of a kind. She is survived by her two daughters, Heather Lindley and her husband Peter of Avon and Susan Story and her husband Merton Howard of San Rafael, CA; her sister, Julie Tooker and her husband Chris of Glastonbury; two brothers, Bob Cavallari and his wife Laura of Deering, NH and Mark Cavallari and his wife Shari of Berlin; her sister-in-law, Nancy Cavallari of New Hartford; her four grandchildren, Hannah and Gina Lindley, Aidan and Elizabeth Howard and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John Cavallari and a nephew, Gabriel Cavallari. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Tuesday, March 15th from 4:00 PM -7:00 PM.
