Barbara McAndrew Hanson, 81, of Avon, beloved wife of Lee Joseph Hanson, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Governor’s House, Simsbury, CT. She was born on November 18, 1935, in Bronxville, NY; daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Frances (Vollmer) McAndrew. She was a devout Catholic who was involved in Hospital, Hospice and Prison Ministries. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Julia Shannon of St. Augustine, FL, Fran Donohue (and Glen) of Mahopac, NY, Mary Greggains (and Nick) of Simsbury, CT, and Terri Moran (and Tim) of Holliston, MA; seven grandchildren, Tim Guilbeault, Bobby Bianconi, Amanda Bianconi, Jack Moran, Lia Moran, Sophie Greggains, and Matthew Greggains; two great grandchildren, Joshua and Claire Guilbeault. She was predeceased by her siblings, Frances McAndrew Renton, Jean McAndrew Larkin, and Walter Thomas McAndrew. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 942 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
