Sabina Marie "Cee" Cappellano
Sabina Marie (O’Farrell) Cappellano, 90, of Riverside Road, Simsbury, wife of the late James A. Cappellano, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at McLean Home in Simsbury. She was born January 17, 1921 in Palatka, FL, daughter of the late James and Margaret (Tourish) O’Farrell and had lived in New Britain prior to moving to Simsbury 61 years ago. Sabina was a graduate of the Teachers College of Connecticut, Class of 1949, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Biology. She was a veteran of World War II having served as an Ensign in the U. S. Navy. Mrs. Cappellano was a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center for more than 25 years, was a Fourth Grade Teacher in Granby and Manchester and was a Substitute Teacher in Simsbury and Granby. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and St. Mary’s/Thursday Night Bowling League, was an avid Red Sox and UCONN Women’s Basketball fan and had enjoyed reading. Sabina also volunteered her time working at the polling stations in Simsbury during elections and also with the American Red Cross. She is survived by her son, James “Jamie/Jaimo” Cappellano of Hartford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patrice and William Majeska of Simsbury and Margaret “Peggy” and André Gosselin of West Hartford; a grandson, William James “Willie” Majeska and two nephews, Patrick Shaw of Tallahassee, FL and Dallas Arthur Shaw of Madison, AL. She was predeceased by her brother, James O’Farrell and her sister, Margaret Bullock. The Family would like to thank the staff at McLean Home, especially Val Patrina, for the loving care they gave Sabina. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury on Thursday, March 10th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral will be Friday, March 11th, 9:15 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Simsbury. Burial with military honors will be in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gifts of Love, 35 East Main Street, Avon, CT 06001.
