John welcomed me to the Calabrese family with such great warmth and humor and kindness that he immediately made me feel truly at home. He loved and was devoted to everyone in his family; he was a joy to visit with. His face lit up when anyone arrived. In the last years he would tell us that he talked to Anne before he fell asleep every night. Then he'd get a twinkle in his eye and say "She's gone, you know, but I still like to talk to her." John was such a polite, decent, and sweet man. I loved him and I will miss him.
