Joanne Healy, age 93, beloved wife, mother, Nana and dear friend of many, died July 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was a long-time communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Simsbury. Joanne was born in Indianapolis, attended Indiana University and lived many years in the Chicago area until moving with the family to Simsbury in 1967. She was a gifted singer and shared her talent with the Farmington Valley Chorale and the St Mary’s Church choir for many years.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Grace and Adrian, and her sisters Adrienne and Marjemae. She leaves behind her loving children and their spouses - Mary Ellen, Barbara and her husband Fred, John and his wife Torrie, and Katherine and her husband John. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren, Nicholas, JD and Jennifer. She also leaves behind a large extended family in the Chicago area, North Carolina and beyond, as well as her most dear friends, the “Bridge Ladies.”

The Healy family expresses heartfelt thanks to all of Joanne’s caregivers over the years. Their loving hands and tender hearts brightened every day for her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church choir. St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 944 Hopmeadow St, PO Box 575, Simsbury CT 06070. The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Joanne’s “Book of Memories” at for online tributes.

What a beautiful voice Joanne had! John and I sang with her in the Farmington Valley Chorale and at Berkshire Choral Festival. One summer at BCF we had a conductor known for his gruff manner and exacting standards. At one rehearsal he had all the sopranos stand (intimidating in itself) and sing individually the first line of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" with its octave leap. Some sopranos faltered, some passed, but Joanne sang it easily, cleanly and clearly. I was so proud of her. My condolences go to her family.

Kathy, John, and JD,
We were very sorry to read about your mother's passing. We hope that you have many happy memories stored up to ease the grief of your loss. We miss seeing you next door. The new family stays inside most of the time, but maybe that's a symptom of the pandemic. We hope you are happy in your new home, and we will keep you in our prayers.
Blessings, Judy and Peter Goff

Kathy Healy is a close friend. I have often heard her speak of her mother with great love and caring. I hope that Mrs. Healy's family and friends will fondly remember the joyous times they shared with her.

With deepest sympathy,
Karen W. Boyd

Joanne and I sat together, side by side, at the University of Ct. Health Center, where Joanne was a Volunteer. It was always a pleasure to go to work and share our conversation with her. She was a wonderful person.
